FDA explanation
Use the pharmacy’s own name
The US government agency that reviews medicines for approval is called the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
An online-care patient may be unsure who actually compounded their medicine, the FDA notes in its explanation checked September 17, 2026.
A compounder makes a medicine to order. Ask for that name as well as the dispensing pharmacy if they differ.

A pharmacy elsewhere still needs a state check
As of September 30, 2026, a pharmacy in another state generally needs a Washington nonresident licence to mail prescription medicine here.
Nonresident means the pharmacy is based outside Washington.
The state Pharmacy Commission can make an exception for occasional shipments, rather than a pharmacy regularly sending medicine into Washington.
Ask the pharmacy to show which state permission covers your delivery. A small order alone does not answer that question.

Washington’s health department provides a free pharmacy licence search, as checked September 30, 2026.
- Does the name on the paperwork match the licence record?
- Which location will fill this prescription?
- How do I reach a pharmacist with a question about it?

The pharmacist needs to be reachable
Washington’s rule checked September 30, 2026 sets a phone requirement for pharmacies that need this out-of-state licence.
The medicine label must show a free phone number.
During opening hours, that line must reach a pharmacist who can see your patient records.
That is a way to ask about the medicine itself, rather than only an account or delivery.
